Paper Tea Cup #2

As promised, here is the alternate teacup design! It’s a bit taller and wider than the one I uploaded last week. But I’m really happy with the design! It goes together exactly the same as Paper Tea Cup #1 . It’s cut out of 160gsm card stock and glued together with a quick-drying adhesive or double-sided tape.

But rather than just glue these ones together I decided to get a little more creative. I embroidered them with a simple heart design before I glued it together.

I pre-cut my embroidery holes using my Graphtec cutter plotter, but I’ve included the template inclusive of the heart cross-stick embroidery hole locations if you want to punch them through by hand.

After I’d embroidered all of the hearts. I glued down the loose threads with a little quick-drying adhesive and trimmed the remaining thread.

I then proceeded to put the cup together in exactly the same manner as Paper Tea Cup #1. I haven’t recreated the tutorial as it seemed a bit of a waste of time, and I can be spending that time making new things! So after you’ve downloaded the template, head over here and follow the photo tutorial.

And this is the final result! I’ve not come up with a lid design for it yet, and I have a rough sketch created for a fabric lining that will hide off the horrible mess inside. But you’ll just have to wait a little for those!

I have a really cute lid design for Tea Cup #1 that ties down with a ribbon bow to go up on the blog tomorrow.

What do you think? I’m quite happy with them. They’d be perfect with some little Valentine’s Day sweets inside!

Love your paper teacups! But when I open the pattern for this cup (#2), it seems like there are two patterns on top of each other – the cup, and then what might be the lid on top of that, so it’s all jumbled together. It might be that the problem lies in my computer, I’m not sure, but I would really like to have the pattern for the cup. 🙂

      Hi Christine,
They both open perfectly on my computer. Are you using Adobe Reader software to open the document? You can download it here (http://get.adobe.com/reader/)
      Cheers

Yay, everything worked fine in Adobe Reader! Must have just been a problem with Preview on Mac. Thank you, can’t wait to make the cup! 🙂

Hi! where did you buy your card stock from? I tried searching for that weight and am coming up blank.

There are loads of paper types in this weight available. For example you can search for “160 gsm” on Amazon and dozens of papers come up.

      I hope this helps
